To Light a Fire on the Earth

In 1983, Pope John Paul II began calling for an updated and timely approach to the sharing of the Gospel; one that took into account the ever-changing world and met the needs of modern people, while also taking advantage of new technologies and media. Many strategies have been employed and methods adopted in the almost 40 years since the pope proclaimed the need for a new evangelization. Arguably, no one in the United States, has answered that call more fervently and efficiently than Bishop Robert Barron. His approach is centered around exploring and unpacking the treasures of the faith for a new audience, through new mediums, all the while drawing them in and, ultimately, closer to Christ. For evangelists, teachers, and catechists, his example and methods cannot be overlooked, as they provide a proven roadmap for Catholic ministry today.
